THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)
The
International Baccalaureate (IB) is a nonprofit foundation offering four
educational programmes for students aged 3 to 19, aiming to develop inquiring,
knowledgeable, and caring individuals. These high-quality programmes
foster academic achievement, critical thinking, and a global perspective,
preparing students for higher education and the challenges of a fast-changing
world. Authorized schools offering these programmes are known as IB
World Schools.
The
Four IB Programmes
The IB provides a continuum of education, with programmes for different age groups:
· 1) Primary Years Programme (PYP)
(Ages 3-12): Fosters inquiry and a holistic approach to
learning.
· 2) Middle Years Programme (MYP)
(Ages 11-16): An interdisciplinary curriculum that
encourages students to make practical connections to the world around them.
· 3) Diploma Programme (DP)
(Ages 16-19): A challenging programme that provides an
internationally recognized qualification for higher education.
· 4) Career-Related Programme (CP)
(Ages 16-19): Combines academic study with career-related
learning and practical skills.
