 HIMANCHAL PRADESH BOARD OF SCHOOL EDUCATION


            The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) is the primary education board for the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is responsible for setting academic programs, prescribing courses and textbooks, and conducting examinations from the elementary to senior secondary levels. The HP Board of School Education (HPBOSE) is an agency of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, headquartered in Dharamshala. It was established in 1969 and shifted its base from Shimla to Dharamshala in 1983. 

Key functions of HPBOSE:-

  • Conducting examinations: HPBOSE organizes and manages the Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 (Plus Two) board exams, along with examinations for the J.B.T. (Junior Basic Training) and T.T.C. (Teacher Training Certificate) courses.
  • Curriculum and textbooks: The board is in charge of preparing the syllabus and prescribing textbooks for students from Class 1 to 12 in affiliated schools.
  • School affiliation: Over 8,000 schools across Himachal Pradesh are affiliated with the board.
  • Examination centers: HPBOSE sets up around 1,650 examination centers each year for hundreds of thousands of students.

  • Headquarters: Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The headquarters were originally in Shimla and moved to Dharamshala in January 1983.
