            The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) is the primary education board for the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is responsible for setting academic programs, prescribing courses and textbooks, and conducting examinations from the elementary to senior secondary levels. The HP Board of School Education (HPBOSE) is an agency of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, headquartered in Dharamshala. It was established in 1969 and shifted its base from Shimla to Dharamshala in 1983. 

Key functions of HPBOSE:-

  • Conducting examinations: HPBOSE organizes and manages the Class 10 (Matric) and Class 12 (Plus Two) board exams, along with examinations for the J.B.T. (Junior Basic Training) and T.T.C. (Teacher Training Certificate) courses.
  • Curriculum and textbooks: The board is in charge of preparing the syllabus and prescribing textbooks for students from Class 1 to 12 in affiliated schools.
  • School affiliation: Over 8,000 schools across Himachal Pradesh are affiliated with the board.
  • Examination centers: HPBOSE sets up around 1,650 examination centers each year for hundreds of thousands of students.

           The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is the official governing body for secondary and higher secondary education in the state of Gujarat. It is responsible for setting academic policies, administering examinations, and managing schools.

 Key responsibilities

  • Curriculum and textbooks: Preparing the syllabus and recommending textbooks for secondary and higher secondary schools.
  • Conducting examinations: GSEB organizes and conducts the main board examinations for Class 10 and Class 12, as well as supplementary exams for students who need to retake them.
  • Recognition and inspection: The board is responsible for recognizing new schools, inspecting existing ones, and evaluating their performance.
  • GUJCET: GSEB is also the conducting body for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET), used for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses.

  • Secondary School Certificate (SSC): This is the exam for students in Class 10. The GSEB SSC exams are held annually, typically in February and March.

       A state board is an education board that each state government in India has established to manage and oversee the schools within its jurisdiction. This system differs from national boards, like the CBSE and CISCE, by focusing on regional languages, culture, and educational standards. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is an autonomous body that regulates and supervises secondary and higher secondary education in Maharashtra. The board is responsible for conducting the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) examinations throughout the state.

History:- 

         The Board came into existence on 1 January 1966 to regulate certain matters pertaining to secondary education in the state of Maharashtra, as "Maharashtra State Secondary Education Boards". The act was amended in 1976, and the name of the Board changed to its present name, "Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education"

The head office of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education is located in Shivaji Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra, India. This board, which handles SSC and HSC examinations, has its main headquarters in Pune and is supported by nine divisional boards across the state.

  • Conducts examinations: The MSBSHSE conducts the SSC and HSC examinations twice a year—typically in March and July/October.
  • Creates curriculum: It is responsible for creating and implementing the syllabus and curriculum for all grades under its jurisdiction.

  • Divisional boards: The MSBSHSE operates through nine divisional boards located in Pune, Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur, and Konkan.

            The National Institute of Open Schooling, formerly National Open School is a national level board of education in India, controlled and managed by the Government of India. It was established by the Ministry of Education of the Government of India in 1989. NIOS is providing a number of Vocational, Life Enrichment and community oriented courses besides General and Academic Courses at Secondary and Senior Secondary level. It also offers Elementary level Courses through its Open Basic Education Programmes (OBE). The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), established in 1989 by India's Ministry of Education, is an autonomous organization offering various academic, vocational, and community-oriented courses. It provides education at the secondary, senior secondary, and elementary (Open Basic Education) levels.

Over 2750 schools in India and abroad are affiliated to the CISCE. It is also recognized as a 'Non-Governmental National Board of Secondary Education'.  CISCE conducts ICSE exam for Class 10 and ISC exam for Class 12.

        The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), also known as the Class 10 board exam, is a public examination in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, marking the completion of secondary education. In India, it's a crucial step after 10 years of schooling, often determining eligibility for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and influencing students' academic and professional paths.
         The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) is a certification obtained by the High School Students upon the passing of a Secondary Examination at the end of study at the Secondary School Level in India.
